Innovations & Awards

NET World GM (Eng. Ghamdan Al-Anesi) has played a critical role in developing a Universal Phonetic Search Engine (known as Sound SX). The technology is a state-of-the-art innovation that overcomes the troubles of searching relevant databases and breaks the barriers presented by a multitude of languages. It is undoubtedly a giant step in meeting many of the great challenges presented by exponential growth of the Internet, globalization and the problems resulting from human or machine error.

The technology was first presented in GITEX of 1996 held In Dubai. It won the Most Innovative Technology Award that was judged and handed over by BYTE magazine, the leading magazine in the IT world. News of the team's great achievement in GITEX was widely reported in the media, here in Yemen and in some of the Arab countries. Two weeks later, H.E. President Saleh received the team as a significant gesture of his great happiness with the team's outstanding accomplishment. The president congratulated the team and wished its members the best in their interesting and challenging endeavor.

The technology also presented in the Annual Meeting of the Arab Society for Information Technology held in Damascus in December of 1996. There again, the technology won the Society Award as recognition of the Yemeni team breakthrough innovation. The award was handed over by H.E. President Basher Al-Asad, then the President of the Society.

In 1999, the team decided to move to the United States to establish Cyrsh Technologies Corporation in Irvine , California . As yet another sign of his support of the Yemeni team accomplishment, H.E. President Saleh inaugurated the launching of the first service of Cyrsh in May of 2000 in New York in a big ceremony attended by a large number of the Yemeni community in the United States . The news of the ceremony was very much publicized in the Yemeni media.

Occasionally, the General Manger of NET World and some of its members take the time to participate in efforts (lectures, presentations in universities and schools) designed to educate the public about various aspects of the Information Revolution and the need to join the Global Information Society. In fact, we are planning to announce very soon NET World Award for Excellence in various areas of IT world to be given annually to outstanding young Yemenis.
